SALES-BIZ
Vs 1.0
This program is for those needing a sales tracking program to
maintain customer and product sales. It also provides for sales
contacts and sales logs. Various daily, period and to date sales
reports are provided.
The program uses table lookups and scrolling record windows
for ease of use. Sales can be entered in the order of dates,
customers or products.
Requirements for the program are 512k ram, hard disk drive or
two floppy drive and a proper CONFIG.SYS file installed in the root
directory.
To install the program, you should create a new directory and
copy the program into it. It will create several data files and
should be placed in a directory of it's own. Floppy users can place
the program on drive B and enter B:SALBIZ from the A drive.
Program is started by entering SALBIZ at the prompt.
The program also has a screen saving feature that will blank
the monitor after 10 minutes of inactivity. This can be very useful
for those wanting to keep the program up for logging contacts, etc.
If you like this program, send 35.00 and you will be sent the
registered version. It includes additional reports such as Period
Sales by Products, Total Company Sales and single log listings by
Activity. The data entry tables are also expanded to include more
records displayed.
Thank you for your support.

QUICK START
You will need to first establish customer and product files in
order to enter sales. You may also want to enter sales contacts for
the various companies you do business with. Use the main menu
options "Company File", "Products File", and "Maintain Contact File"
to start off with until you are more familiar with the program.
You will find many automatic window prompts thruout the program.
For example; if no records exist in a file, the program will display
a data entry window for your first record automatically. Where
appropriate, lookup tables will also be displayed for your choices
automatically. Most prompts will wait for your entries. If blank,
you can simply press the ENTER key and the appropriate table of
choices will appear. It will also appear if you happen to enter
the wrong data.
To add new records within the record tables, simply press the
INSert key. A data entry window will appear to allow you to enter
the needed information. A message line will appear with "Record
will be added." This status message will be found on most data
entry windows near the top line. Press the ESC to cancel or exit
screens.
To change information, highlight the record using the arrow
keys and press the ENTER key. The message line will read "Record
will be changed". You do not have to step thru all the data fields
in the data entry windows. You can simply press the CTRL and ENTER
keys simultaneously instead. This becomes a must when entering
note fields in the customer and sales log records.
To delete a record, press the DELete key when the selected
record is highlighted. The data entry window will appear with the
message "Press Enter to delete". Pressing the ENTER key will then
remove the record or you can press the ESC key first to cancel.
Although the arrow keys can be used to scroll thru the tables,
the PgUp and PgDn keys can also be used for full screen changes.
Pressing the CTRL key with the PgUp and PgDn keys will place you at
the beginning or end of the file.
As you can see, data entry is very easy in this program.
SALES ENTRIES
As noted above, you can enter sales data by date, company, or
product. A popup menu will allow you to choose your preference.
The actual data entry windows are not changed. Your choice simply
displays the records in the order chosen and makes it easier to
insert, change or delete records.
NOTE: The customer and product files are updated with each
entry or deletion. This becomes important when you wish to delete
the sales records for a new period. Use the "Reset Sales" options
for the deletions instead. This will leave the to-date sales figures
in the customer and product files intact.
As described above, the product or customer tables can be
displayed for your choices by simply pressing the ENTER key at the
blank prompts. Data entry consists of date, customer, product,
quantity and total amount of sale.
CONTACTS
Use the contacts file to maintain contacts for various customers.
These are tied to the customer Company file. The company phone number
will automatically be inserted. A second number is provided for.
A notes field is also provided for various information you may
want to record. You may want to keep them brief if you will be
listing them to your printer. Use the combination CTRL-ENTER keys
to save the records.
LOGS
This option is for those needing to log their sales contacts.
It provides for date and time of contacts. A separate Type of
Activity file is also provided for lookups.
A notes field is provided for your use. Use the combination
CTRL-ENTER keys to save the records.
SALES REPORTS
Reports are provided for day, period and total sales. The day
sales report option will prompt for a date to be listed. Use as
needed.
The period sales reports will list all current sales entries
in the sales file.
The Total Sales report will list period and to date totals
only. As mentioned earlier, these amounts are posted as sales are
entered. This makes for a faster printing report.
FILE LISTINGS
Most of the file listings are straight forward.
The labels option allows for printing customer name and address
labels.
This registered version also allows the listing of logs by
Type of Activity. An automatic table prompt is provided for your
choice of listings.
FUNCTION KEY USAGE
The following keyboard keys are used in the multiple record
table windows. A popup window will appear from these keystrokes.
A description of the action will appear in this window such as
'This record will be added' or 'Press ENTER to delete'. You can
press the ESC key to cancel or in the case of the deletion, press
ENTER and the record is then removed. You may find it easier to
add records by being situated where you want to add the record...
thus the use of the INSert key.

automatically be inserted in proper position.

nearest one found.
The data entry windows are fairly straight forward. You simply
add or change data as needed with the ENTER key. Use of the ESC key
can also restore data if you wish. The ARROW keys can also be used to
step thru the data fields. If your data is correct, you can also
press CTRL ENTER and not have to step thru the fields.
Lookup fields are also used thru-out the program. If prompted
for an estimate number for example, you can enter the estimate number
desired or if blank simply press ENTER. Choices will then be displayed
in a table. Some field choices such as TYPES are shown with the
acceptable choices. Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice.
New records are not always displayed after entry, simply press
the combination CTRL-PgUp keys to refresh the tables.
Your support is appreciated. I hope you like the program.

This file can be sent to your printer for reference by entering
the following at the DOS prompt:
COPY SALBIZ.DOC LPT1:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CONFIG.SYS file
As stated above, the program will not work without a proper
CONFIG.SYS file in your root directory. It should contain lines of
code such as:
files=24
buffers=16
You can use your editor to check for these lines of code. The
numbers are not critical and can be less. What's important is that
you have this file. You can check for it's existence by simply
entering TYPE CONFIG.SYS at the prompt of your root directory. If
DOS returns a file not found message, you can copy the CONFIG.DTA
file included with this application. After it has been copied into
your root directory, rename it CONFIG.SYS. You must restart your
system for this file to take effect.
